The Cat Diaries: 101 Creative Writing Prompts by Fiona Darlington is a great little book for both people who love cats and those who want to write about cats.

Each page has a cat quote and illustration plus a question or prompt to prod you into writing about cats, your own or other cats.

The quotations will encourage the writer to explore memories of their relationship with past or current feline friends and/or see cats in an entirely new light.

At the beginning of the book Fiona offers advice on how to use the book to get the most out of it.  The quotations and questions are intended to be used as creative writing prompts, but you can use the book in any way you want.  You can work on each prompt, say, on a daily or weekly basis, or you can just read it all the way through, leaving the prompts for another time.

Either way, it’s an enjoyable book, and as an ardent lover of all things feline, I will certainly dip into it again.

A Morning Kiss

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
