Guidelines for Submission

The Daily Mews website has several sections for which you can submit pieces; the A’Mews’ment Arcade; Articles; Book and Product Reviews; Cat Chat; Charities and Rescue Centres; Feline Fitness; Kitty Bits; Mewsers’ Mewsings*, Napping on a Sunbeam; Paws for Thought,  Purrfect Poetry and What my cat means to me.

With the exception of Mewsers’ Mewsings – which is where your cat submits something expressing his/her own opinions on a certain matter – you are able to submit something to all the other categories.

How to submit:

Your article (up to 1,000 words) or poem (up to 20 lines) must be submitted using Arial font. I can adjust the font size depending on the page or the section. Longer pieces may be accepted after prior discussion.

Where to submit:

It is not possible for you to just upload your articles on to the Daily Mews Website; all items to be considered for inclusion on the website must be sent to me: p.dewberry@ntlworld.com

Up to 3 good, clear photos may be included for articles to be considered for the Cat Chat or Napping on a Sunbeam sections. You’d be surprised how many people send me a picture of a fuzzy, indistinguishable ‘blob’ and tell me that it is their precious Fluffy doing what he does best: sleeping! So, please - clear photos only.

Your work may be edited for length and any obvious spelling mistakes or grammar and punctuation errors will be corrected. This is an English website so anything written for it will be changed to the English spelling: for example:- color will become colour; favorite will become favourite etc.

Copyright:

You retain all copyright to anything submitted to this website and are free to use it again wherever you wish. You can also state – if you want to – that your article first appeared on the Daily Mews website giving the full URL – but this is not mandatory.

Competition Entries:

The Book Quiz:

The first entrant to get all five (or as near to five) titles right as possible will be deemed the winner.

The Caption Competition:

You are welcome to send in photos of your own cat to be considered for the Caption Competition; please refer to the item above regarding ‘good, clear photos’ only.

A maximum of 5 entries are permitted and absolutely no bad language or smutty remarks will be accepted.

Due to the prohibitive cost of postage, prizes are no longer given out for the winner of the Book Quiz or the best caption.

If you have any further queries regarding acceptability of any thing you’d like to be included on the website, email me in the first instance to discuss it.

The Editor’s decision is final for all submissions.
