Struggling through the winter storm
Jacket zipped up nice and warm
Against the snow drifting all around
It built up so quickly on the ground

Dollars and cents I had not many
Could almost say hardly a penny
Christmas lights flashing in stores
Not only here but on distant shores

One of the lucky ones just to be
That's what I was trying to tell me
When faintly I heard her pitiful cry
From the gutter I was walking by

She sat there in the cold white snow
Nothing to eat and nowhere to go
Holding her gently in my left palm
I picked her up to save from harm

Loneliness fluttered wings and left
No longer did I feel lost and bereft
Tiny little kitty felt exactly the same
Purring loudly as I gave her a name

My Christmas gift sent from above
Angels matching our eternal love
Snowball and I still a loving pair
After heaven showed me how to care

A Morning Kiss

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
