“My cat speaks sign language with her tail.” Robert A. M. Stern (American architect)

Hi everyone and welcome to the Scratching Post.  For the newbies that subscribed recently, this is a mid-month newsletter in between Mewsletters.  It isn’t usually as long as the Mewsletter because it just has a few links and a brief chatty bit.

The UK has warmed up a little bit over the past couple of days.  Whether this is Spring and Summer all in one to save time, I have no idea.  I know that I’ve seen people in shorts and tee shirts already – are they mad???!!!  We could have snow before the day is out – we often get four seasons in one day!  Our hearts go out to all those in the US that are having blizzards and terrible snow drifts.  Please keep safe, warm and hydrated – and no, that doesn’t mean copious bottles of wine!

My apologies for giving the wrong link for Ceci the blind kitten’s Facebook page.  My thanks to Audra (Dezi and Raena’s Mommy) for putting me right.  Here’s the correct link so please hurry over to her page and make yourself known.

FIGHTING THE FLAB THE FELINE WAY:

Casey and Gibbs are impressed with the number of cats that have written in to the Daily Mews office regarding their porky humans. There is still time if you would like to write in to tell them how you intend to slim down your human, what desperate measures you will employ to get their butts up off the sofa and wiggling around to shift those pounds.  The more inventive you are, the better it is for your human.

Just send an email to Casey@thedailymews.com and tell him (he’ll tell Gibbs) about how you intend to slim your human.  If you need to lose weight too, perhaps your human can write about how they intend to slim you down!  It’s coming up to bikini weather and if you want to get into those Speedos, or Budgie Smugglers, you’ll need to huff and puff a bit!!

LINKS:

This is an adorable little snapshot of a kitten who was adopted by a dog – it’s very short.

Robert Blau in the US sent me the link to Kedi: a film about cats in Istanbul.  It’s a documentary and is well worth watching apparently.

Kedi: a film about the cats of Istanbul

Here’s a link to a very short trailer to the film:

The cats of Istanbul

On the right of the page you’ll see lots of other clips for the film – do check them out.  Kedi is Turkish for cat.

And that’s about it for the Scratching Post.  Told you it was short!!!

The Mewsletter should be with you towards the end of the month.  Happy Mother’s Day to all Mums in the UK (and anywhere else in the world where it might be celebrated).  And Casey, Gibbs and I will see you at the end of the month, health matters permitting.

Take care, keep warm.

With love
