“Way down deep, we’re all motivated by the same urges.
Cats have the courage to live by them.”
Jim Davis, American Cartoonist and creator of Garfield
Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to all the newbies that made their way through the catflap during the hottest June since 1976.
Happy birthday Canada – 150 years old on 1st July. And happy 4th of July to all who celebrate it today.
Thank you to everyone who wished Lawrence and I better health. Mine turned out not to be as serious as was first thought. Lawrence had multiple stents put in the diseased areas of his heart (he has heart failure) and now – just a week or so later, already he is feeling a lot better. Casey and Gibbs were there, doing their bit: a raspy lick on the cheek, a paw placed gently on his thigh. How could he not get better with such love coming his way?
I must apologise for the heading on the Scratching Post that went out earlier this month. For some reason, I was unable to change the date so it went out with the date of the previous Scratching Post. Not many people noticed and those that did were kind enough to point it out!
In the previous Mewsletter, there was an error or two in the piece about Deanna Chesnut’s book: Purrs and Promises. I mentioned that her book was available in ebook, hardback and an over-sized paperback. It is not available in hardback. And I’m sorry that I put an unwanted ‘t’ in her surname.
LET’S GET ON WITH THE MEWS!

FELINE FITNESS:
Do you have an allergy to your cat? Does your cat have allergies? Then this article might be of interest to you.
FIGHTING THE FLAB THE FELINE WAY
We have had our first drop-out of the race to slim down feline and human. Gabion took on the role vacated by Dumpty’s sudden demise a couple of months ago, but he has thrown in the towel. His human has badly let herself down and he feels he’s done all he can possibly do.
HOME PAGE MESSAGE:
Aoife McCann is an amazing artist and writer and she has written a few things about her cats: Pookie and Chalky for us. She has a brilliant blog where she muses about life and the price of fish, and this month’s offer was Psalm 23 for Cats. Very funny.
Just go to the Home Page and scroll down a whisker or two - you can’t miss it.

CASEY’S CHATS:
Casey continues to be frazzled as he explains in his latest column.
It’s been a busy time lately …
INDY THE WEIGHTLOSS CAT:
I am ashamed to admit, that I missed Indy’s April article. How, I don’t know, but here it is now:
How to lose weight in 4 easy steps
Indy has had a really rough start to life. In his latest, searingly honest post, he opens up about depression and weight gain.
LORD REGGIE’S RUMINATIONS:
Lord Reginald has settled in after retiring from his life in service to the high and the good. There is, however, just one blot on his landscape.
And that is about all for now. I hope to get back on track now and I thank you for your patience with me.
Keep well and keep in touch. I do welcome feedback, good, bad or indifferent. Just email me pauline@thedailymews.com. Thank you.
Take care

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
