I am already leaving.

With these words I will have left

a little more.

Only your heart can halt the hourglass

and invite me to stay.

With these paws I have loved the earth;

imprinting it with my hunger, my strength, my beauty.

To this earth, I have added my children,

my life, my blood, my death.

My whiskers have dowsed the wisdom of my ancestors.

My roar contains their fire.

Once I am gone, so are my ancestors, and my future.

If you cut off your past, then you too forfeit your future

so that your soul bleeds empty in the present.

I bear no blame nor shame.

I stand strong in my memories

And walk beside you in your dreams.

I am almost gone now.

The hourglass overflows.

Only your heart can invite me to stay.

A Morning Kiss

A morning kiss, a discreet touch of his nose landing somewhere on the middle of my face.
Because his long white whiskers tickled, I began every day laughing.
