I’ve had cats as members of my family for the past 24years and I’ve always believed that they possess an ‘other worldliness’ about them. Reading Angel Cats by Allen and Linda Anderson has strengthened that belief.

angel_catsGrouped into five chapters – each dealing with a particular theme – it’s plain to see that the contributing authors share that belief also.

The overriding lesson seems to be that cats are, indeed, angels that spend their time on this existing plane caring, nurturing and teaching their human companions, or bringing comfort when needed. It also seems that once that task is complete they will transcend to a higher plane, perhaps to reincarnate once again.

Maybe that’s where the term ‘having 9 lives’ originates. Perhaps they incarnate 8 times until we are reunited one day on our own journey’s end.

Tim Miejan’s ‘The Man Who Got His Purr Back’ (see page 127) resonated strongly with me. His three cats, China, Madonna and Seth positioned themselves at strategic parts of his body while he lay on the floor waiting for help to take him to hospital. When he engaged the services of a Pet Whisperer, they each told her that his purr was missing and they were worried that where he was going (to hospital) he wasn’t coming back.

Cats represent ‘chi’ – or energy – and Madonna, China and Seth, in their purring, re-energised Tim.

This reminded me of a time when I was in a severe relapse with the CFS/ME and I went back to bed after breakfast one morning. Garfield and Timmy came immediately to lay on either side of me; the remaining five cats each positioned themselves at my head, throughout my body down to my feet.  Enveloped by an enormous purring machine I slept for a couple of hours, flanked by each cat who stayed in his position until I woke up, re-energised.

Tim’s story, as well as all the others, proved once again, as if proof were needed, that cats have accumulated years of wisdom and knowledge from the Source of all life and unselfishly they share their lives with us lower beings.

‘Angel Cats: When feline friends touch hearts and change lives’ is a gentle read and you, the reader, will feel utterly blessed. You will also give greater respect to the four-legged angel who shares your life.
