Bad Dog, No Biscuit by Anthony Smith is a hilarious (in my opinion) take on the fun people have trying to train their dogs.

Basic commands are given and the dog interprets this in his own way responding inappropriately, only to be told ‘bad dog, no biscuit.’ At the end of several commands the dog suddenly gets the picture and in a whirlwind of activity performs all the commands almost all at once to receive the praise: ‘Good dog!’ and then the final prize: the biscuit.

It’s a very clever little book with very simple illustrations, which Anthony is so clever at doing. They may be simple pictures but each picture speaks a thousand words as Anthony, using just a change of mouth, ear or eye manages to convey the dog’s feelings and reactions to each put down: ‘Bad dog, no biscuit.’

I really loved this book and I feel it would make an excellent stocking filler for any dog lover who has tried and perhaps failed to train their dog. Perhaps this book will give renewed hope that you can teach all dogs new tricks!

A Cats Purr

"Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...

A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves - that we are nice."
