Hi everyone and a very warm welcome is extended to all the newbies who came flooding through the catflap since the last Mewsletter was sent out.  You are all very welcome, so pull up a pew, grab a brew and plonk the cat on your lap.

Since the Mewsletter was sent out, Britain has been boiled alive with some of the hottest temperatures we’ve had in centuries; it makes me laugh because every year when the sun does eventually make an appearance (like a diva not getting out of bed for less than £10 million) the meteorologists start faffing around on the weather reports and tell us that it’s the hottest day since the Neanderthals walked the earth.  Anyway, as is customary with our summers, we have two or three days of unbroken sunshine, followed by a week of storms and torrential downpours.  If you get your timing right, you can go out for the day and dodge the showers.

Well, despite baking to a nice crispy crust here in this office, and sitting in a puddle for most of the past couple of weeks, the Mewsletters and Scratching Posts are all up to date on the website.  So if you’ve just recently joined us, and want to know what you’ve been missing, head on over to where they’re all stashed and read them at your leisure:

The Book Quiz has yielded one response so far so if you’re a book worm (like me) then do check it out.  Even if you don’t enter the quiz, you’ll see some good titles to add to your collections!

If you would like to enter the Book Quiz, all you have to do is to Google the book titles and send the answers to me by 20th August.

Similarly, the Caption Competition has had only two entries so far.  Obviously Gibbs in his box is probably not exciting enough to capture everyone’s imagination but I’m happy to receive pictures of your own cats doing things, to be considered for the competition.  Just send them to me at pauline@thedailymews.com.  Make sure they’re clear without lots of other rubbishy stuff in the picture.

Caption Competition 59  Please send up to 5 entries by 20th August 2016.  Thank you.

CASEY’S CHATS:

Casey has written a tongue-very-firmly-in-cheek piece this time about ‘Catti-quette’ which I’ve put on the Home Page where my ‘message’ would normally be.  I think Casey thinks this is very important information for felines and humans alike and all would benefit from reading it.  Just go to the Home Page and scroll down a teeny tiny bit and you’ll see it.

Here’s a beautiful homage to all sorts of friendships between species that will have you saying ‘AWWW’ over and over again:

And that’s that for now.  The Mewsletter should be with you by the end of August – back problems permitting – and in a short while, I’m off to my great grandson’s 2nd birthday party.   Happy birthday, Leo, love from Nannie Cats.

Take care everyone – especially if you do have very sunny weather.  Never leave your animals in the car, not even for a few minutes.  And white cats will need special sunblock on their noses and ear tips so that they don’t get cancer.

With love

The Very Best Toy for Cats

"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise when you jump on it."
