Casey and Gibbs working on a questionnaire for DenverCasey and Gibbs were very impressed with Denver reaching his target weight, that they put together a very short questionnaire to see if Denver had any nuggets of advice to offer other dieting felines.

DENVER: Ok - some tough questions there to round off my writing career!

CASEY:  Firstly: what do you think you learned from your dieting experience?

DENVER: What I've learned - hmm, that's a tough one. Oh yes - it's a lot easier to put weight on than it is to lose it again.

GIBBS:  What was the hardest part?

DENVER: The hardest part - THAT one's easy - the hungry tummy, grumbling away at the most inconvenient times. Picture the scene - you've got a mouse within striking distance; completely unaware you are there. You quietly position the feet into launch configuration (thanks for that alternative word, Mum!) And then do that butt wiggle that you humans seem to find so adorable (why we really do it is in the same realm as purring - you will never understand why we butt wiggle or how we purr!). And then - RUUUUUUUUUUMBLE goes your tummy and off goes the mouse - ARRRRRRRRGGH!

CASEY: Did you set yourself some goals and celebrate your victories?

DENVER: Goals and victories - my main goal was to lose the poundage as effectively as possible, so it wouldn't be too long before I could taste pouch again (but I still haven't had any, don't know why, unless Mum is worried I'll put it back on again). Celebrating victories - got a LOT of cuddles and fusses, not just from Mum but from the Nurses at You Know Where too.

GIBBS: What advice would you give to any feline fighting the flab?

DenverDENVER: Feline diet advice - I think the best advice I can give is don't give up easily. You humans have a term that Mum explained to me called "slow burn" - applied to long term savings and something called "pensions". Mum explained that for those types of savings, you need to say "goodbye" to your money for at least a few years, maybe even decades for it to be effective. The same thing could be said for diets - it'll take time, perhaps a bit longer than you'd really like to see the effects.

CASEY AND GIBBS: How do you intend to keep your new svelte figure from gaining unhealthy weight again?

DENVER: As for keeping it off - I'm going to live life to the full, as usual, and hope I don't put any back on before my next check-up in January next year (gosh, isn't THAT scary, where has this year gone??!!)

I hope you have all enjoyed my column over the past few months, I've enjoyed writing it, but I'm not sure I'd have any more Mewsings for any other columns - I live a pretty quiet life compared to some of your writers!

Nuzzles always to you both and your human mum and dad.
