'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr
... A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test
paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe
about ourselves - that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the
owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to
move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it
makes a noise when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

Sleeping Kitten
by Jackie S Brooks

Kitty is
sleeping,
dead
to all the world.
Dreaming
in the arms of Morpheus.
Paws move and twitch in a dreamy sleep walk,
perhaps chasing
a mouse through the tall grass,
or a wind blown leaf
across the garden.
A small pink tongue emerges
to lap from an imagined saucer of milk
from that special bottle of rich full cream Guernsey
that is bought just for pampered cats.
Dream on, cradled in my warm and soft duvet,
safe and secure.

This format of poetry is called Pi. Here's Jackie's explanation
of how it's achieved:
Have you ever come
across Pi Formula poetry before?
You probably know
that Pi is the 16th letter of the Greek Alphabet.
Pi is built up in
words and follows the mathematical number that stands for Pi: PI =
3.141592653589793 *
In this case a poem
is 16 lines long, line 1 has 3 words, line 2 has 1 word and line 3 has 4
words, etc.,
So I came up with
the following today.
Well done, Jackie! I think it's incredible.
