PUSSYCAT'S PLEA

They say I am a
loner who needs no company,
that I’d rather live
alone, wild and free than share my life with you living under your
roof, that I’m so very
independent; and always aloof. It really isn’t
true; I want and need affection to be a part of
your family, with loving protection. Don’t treat me as
an ornament, a window decoration, I’m a living,
breathing creature; I need your adulation. I love to be
stroked when I’m sitting on your knee and I relish the attention that you lavish on me, you will know I am contented when you hear me purr so please cuddle me often and ruffle my fur.
Though I like the companionship of my own kind
and we sleep on your bed, our tails entwined,
we chase around the house having lots of fun
or out in the garden in the summer sun,
and sometimes in neighbouring fields I roam,
but I am always happiest with you at home,
you laugh at my antics and make me feel good
and none of my actions are misunderstood.
You tell me I’m clever when I bring in a mouse
and let it go free to run around the house.
I’ll always love you best; you are my family
from your loving pussycat, yours affectionately.
