Every year around this time As I begin decorating our tree My thoughts always turn to him He always brought us so much glee He was the very first gift I ever gave my sweetheart When we first started dating that snowy Christmas Eve And he quickly immersed himself into our hearts and souls Where he still remains today and hopefully will never leave He was a wondrously playful white feline Who seemed to especially love the Holidays And he truly brightened ours for many a year So we truly miss his presence in so many ways He absolutely adored the little Christmas train As it chugged its way around our Christmas tree And he especially delighted in the sound of its whistle Purring deep within his soul as he listened to it so merrily Colourful Christmas ribbons and bows were his special toys He joyously played with them for hours each and every day And he absolutely loved wrapping himself up in our gift boxes Making us constantly laugh hysterically throughout the Holidays And long after every Holiday Season had passed He still played with Christmas decorations with cheer I truly believe deep within my nostalgic heart and soul That he thought Christmas Spirit should last the entire year Our tiny white Christmas Star named Little Henry Lost his battle with severe kidney disease several years ago But each year after the Christmas decorations are all finally finished I can somehow spot his aura atop our tree – still purring and all a glow © Ed Kostro Please support, and visit, Your local animal shelter This Holiday Season, Where your Christmas Star May be waiting, just for you.
