5 GOOD REASONS FOR
HAVING YOUR CAT NEUTERED
DID YOU KNOW... |
Images brought to you

A morning kiss, a discreet

Because his long white

I began every day laughing.

'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...
A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It
is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves -
that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner
himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in
almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise
when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

The 'Mews' Team
Pauline Dewberry, the editor of the Daily
Mews, is currently
owned by 4 cats, 3 gingers and 1 sleek black smoothie, having lost her beloved
20 year old cat, Garfield, in June 2006 and more recently, Ricky in July 2007,
who was possibly about 14 years old. She has left their bios in place
because they were such a special cats.
In return for cooking
them gourmet meals and carrying out light domestic duties she is allowed to rent
a room in their home. When they watch tv they often allow her to join them as
her lap provides additional seating. Pauline is quoted: 'Cats don't criticise
your cooking and don't tell you you're overweight. They just smile
sympathetically and hide the chocolates!'
Garfield
27.03.86 - 12.06.06
My name is Garfield and at 20 I have seen quite a lot in my life. I am poised
ready at the computer to answer any questions, queries, doubts and worries you
may have. I was named after Garfield, the greatest Ginger Cat ever - I, of
course, am the 2nd greatest Ginger Cat ever! I did have a brilliant brother,
called Biggles, but he died when he was 11. It took me a while to get over that,
let me tell you.
Charlie 8.10.93 - 28.06.03
Billy and Timmy
We're Billy and Timmy - we are brothers and we were 11 on 5th August.
Charlie was our mentor when we came to live here at Lazypaws Guest House for
Discerning Felines. We had a brother, called Joey, but sadly he lives with
Garfield's brother Biggles and our littlest friend, Ellie, at Rainbow Bridge and
now Charlie has joined them.
Charlie taught us everything we needed to know - like how to pee on next-door's
potatoes, how to hide from 'Her' if we didn't feel like coming in and general
stuff like that.
Sam
My name is Sam - I was 10 in February and I used to live next-door-but-one. I decided I
wanted to come and live with this nice lady and all her lovely Ginger cats
because I liked how they all played and interacted with each other. Plus they
had some pretty neat toy mice and other things. You can ask me anything you like
- I'm a fairly well adjusted Black cat in an all Ginger cat environment - I
don't feel marginalised - I know I am loved for who I am, not what I am!
Ricky 10.06.98 -
27.07.07
My name is Ricky and I'm about 14 years old although my birth date is not really
known as I was the subject of a cruelty case. My previous owners thought I
should live in a rabbit hutch - I would have thought that having short pointy
ears would have been a huge clue that I wasn't a rabbit - that, and the fact
that I have a long ginger tail! However, eventually I was rescued after a year
of living all scrunched up. I lived with the Cat's Protection League then for 6
months - it was thought I might not be found a home because I had no teeth - but
that wasn't my fault. Then Pauline came along in June 1998 and it was love at first sight.
She took me home, gave me a new name and loved me. It took me a little while to
start walking properly again but when you're loved as much as I am it feels
great.
And of course, our newest addition Ollie...
Ollie
I was 5 years old on 1st August. On 23rd December 2002, I was dumped
at the Pet Shop. I came to live here and have really landed on all four paws.
Garfield was the greatest cat in all the world as he was so kind - he knew SHEDLOADS of stuff. I
miss him and Charlie now that they're not here but Timmy is a good
friend and we play some great games together. I have written my diaries of what life is
like living here with the others and I'm trying to get them published at the
moment so that I might be famous one day! <did you just see that pig flying by
...?>

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
