5 GOOD REASONS FOR
HAVING YOUR CAT NEUTERED
DID YOU KNOW... |
Images brought to you

'The smallest feline is a masterpiece.' Leonardo da Vinci
'Dogs come when called. Cats take a message and get back to you.'

really the most beautiful woman in the room.' Edward Verrall Luca, essayist

A morning kiss, a discreet
touch of his nose landing
somewhere on the middle
of my face.
Because his long white
whiskers tickled,
I began every day laughing.

Cats have staff.'
'In the
middle of a world that has always been a bit mad, the cat walks with
confidence.'

'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...
A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It
is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves -
that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner
himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in
almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise
when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker
Garfield: 28.03.86 - 12.06.06

BEING
by Jimmy

One of my favourite
themes, if not the
theme, is to get you all to become human beings not doings. We cats have to pull
silly faces, cavort, jump, run, appear on your accidental animal video
programmes, act cute and write the odd web column to 'deserve' our lives with
you.
Or rather we don't.
You see, I'm just me. Jimmy the cat. I write because I love writing. It is an
aspect of who I am,
not what I do.
For many of you, the
collar has well and truly dropped. We are all on this earth [before they
'discover' another one-click
here , destroy this one, and go there themselves] to be ourselves. We cats
are who we are. That is the main reason you love us so much. Only you lot
regard your place here as a function of what you do.
How many mothers see
their offspring as human doings? Is this what you hear in your maternity units?
"Well, s/he is out now, but my love is conditional on what s/he does."
There is nothing
wrong with doing. It is a question of
identity [who we are]
and emphasis
[what have you done for me today?].
Some of you spout
off about the sanctity of life. Life is cheap if you are in the armed forces.
Cheaper still if you are 'on benefits.' Pretty worthless for some of my fellow
felines. And almost completely worthless if you are a chicken [well done Jamie
Oliver]. And if life is sacred,
surely the only one who can take it is the Great Cat?
I know my keepers
won't mind paying a little more for my food if you treat farm animals with
compassion.
'You are what you
eat.' Famous quote, the title of a UK TV programme that seems concerned as much
with what comes out of you, as what goes in.
So, if you are what
you eat, and you eat cheap muck, what are you?
Accept who you are,
because no amount of buttox can change the being behind the wrinkle [do we cats
get wrinkles?] Be who you are, and become who you want to be, for eternity. Like
the dish that never gets empty. Let's have that on your Dragon's Den!

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
