Dreamy Days and Random Naps by MawsonMawson Bear has come up with yet another little book, which once you scratch below the simple concept, you realise there are hidden depths to it.

In this book, we meet a number of characters that we haven’t met before. The Seekers who travel far and wide, Seeking. We learn that Mawson has been Seeking too and when asked what he’d been Seeking, he said ‘himself’.  Then we meet Samantha who was listening to dreamy music. Mawson asked her what music she was listening to, and she replies ‘It was like the colours of the wind singing sadly. Or like the sighing of forgotten names still longing to be heard.’

We meet Scottie who dreams of being a king, and Professors Caddy and Bree who are creating something exciting.

All these characters have one in thing in common: hope. And this little book has some inspirational one-liners that could easily be adopted as a mantra to help someone struggling (especially in present times) and hold onto.

I really enjoyed reading about Mawson’s friends and their wishes. Dreamy though they may be, they do inspire you.  Interspersed throughout the pages are little notes about napping: ‘Pile up your cushions and the naps will take care of themselves.’

Published in paperback by Obscura, the ISBN number is: 978-1-922311-13-9

The Very Best Toy for Cats

"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise when you jump on it."
