Cory was born sometime in March 2000 and we got him when he was approximately three months old.

CoryLike all our pussies, Cory was a shelter rescue. An absolutely gorgeous kitten, he looked like a red point Siamese but wasn’t a pure bred. He was, however, a wonderful pet, very loving and always wanted our attention. While we treated all our cats equally he definitely was my wife, Queena’s, favourite.

Cory left us last Saturday afternoon and Queena was so upset she was unable to attend church on Sunday morning. We both really miss him but I try not to get too emotional for her sake. Our whole family misses him, especially those here in town.

He’ll never really be gone as long as we’re living. Cory will be remembered and remain in our hearts. Shana and Bandit were with him at night and they sometimes shared a cat bed. They’ve been wandering around the house so I’ve no doubt they’re aware he’s gone.

We buried him in our back yard with our other late pets.

The Feline Spirit

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

A Cats Purr

"Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...

A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves - that we are nice."
