Hi fellow felines

Mum has had a few sofa days recently and I really don’t know how it happened, but I actually enjoy snuggling up with her while she naps.  Bearing in mind, I have intimacy issues as you know, so I was very surprised to discover that snuggling with a human while they sleep is really quite a pleasant experience.

Let me ‘splain.

I don’t do laps, as I’ve mentioned before.  I love my Mum but I’m not fawning all over her like some felines do with their human – and dare I say it, Gibbs does – ALL THE TIME! I’ll sit with her in her office while she’s working on that ‘puter thingy.  Sometimes, I’ll even sleep on all her papers while she’s working.  She’s always pleased when I do that because I can hear her sighing – loudly – and I know she’s happy that I’m close by. And sometimes, I accompany her to the bathroom, or I’ll wait outside and she nearly falls over me when she comes out!

When she’s watching her programmes on the television, I’ll either sit on my own fleecy blanket at the other end of the sofa, or I’ll sit next to her.  It depends on how I’m feeling at the time. If we’re watching Poirot, I know she gets a bit anxious until the villain has been revealed, so I’ll sit near her to give her support.

Sleeping on the sofa, though, is a different kettle of Dreamies.  She leaves a space for me to join her if I want to and the decision is entirely mine.  One day, I thought I’d pad up to see what she was doing.  I sniffed her nose – NO, it was NOT a kiss! – and I realised that she wasn’t very well.  I had to knead the cushion next to her face several times before it felt right.  Then I found myself leaning into her lady bumps – spooning I heard her tell ‘Dad’ over the phone.

Feeling your human’s heart beating is really quite something.  It’s very soothing, for one thing, and it was a bit like she was purring too.  Strange, that.  So, I felt comforted by her heart beat.  Now, I can’t wait for Mum to have another sofa day so that we can spoon again.  I think ALL humans would benefit from an hour on their sofas, spooning with their cats.  I think dogs could probably do it as well, but as they don’t purr, I don’t know how the human feels afterwards.  Perhaps you could let me know.
