I CAN
HAS CHEEZBURGER
The LOL Cat emails
that did the rounds with cute pictures of cats in various poses with LOL cat
‘speak’ accompanying them annoyed me at first. Being a stickler for correct
English grammar I’m the sort of manic individual who corrects misspelled
graffiti in public toilets, and the like, but loving cats as I do, and imagining
that they might speak like this if they were to
vocalise
their thoughts and fears I was entranced with ‘I Can Has Cheezburger – (a LOLcat
colleckshun)’ compiled by Eric Nakagawa and Kari Unebasami.

cofounded
www.Icanhascheezburger.com in January 2007 as a gathering place for ‘LOLcats,’
images of cats with captions. For this book, they have selected over 200 of
their favourite LOLcats from the site, which are guaranteed to make you laugh
out loud – so says the blurb on the back cover.
There are so many
brilliant (200 apparently) photos of cats doing what cats do best and the LOL
speak comments that go with them are really funny. I can’t single out any
particular page because every one is unique – but I did like references to
‘Ceiling Cat’ who is ‘omnomnishent kitteh who lives in ur ceiling and observes
ur personal habitz. There is a double page spread of a cat looking through a
square hole in something which has been captioned ‘ceiling cat iz watching u’
and on the opposite page is a cat in supplication with its paws in prayer
captioned ‘Thank u, ceiling cat 4 catnip n Caturday’ with another picture
alongside that of a cat looking upwards, captioned ‘Oh, hai ceiling cat. U scare
me.’

having a field day as I write this!)
