MEWSLETTER 4:
August 23, 2002
by Pauline Dewberry

Hello Everyone - a warm welcome to all
my new subscribers.
Hope you're all having a good summer. Our British
summer usually consists of three days of intense heat followed by a week of
torrential rain and floods throughout the
country! We're used to it now but the poor cats don't know whether to go out or
stay in.
Sam got caught out in a recent storm which
consisted of torrential rain plus a few loud claps of thunder and lightening. I
had no idea he was outside. Then he came into the living room and stood in front
of me miaowing pitifully, fur plastered to his body and looking about a third of
his normal size. He was absolutely drenched but he let me dry him with an old
towel I keep specifically for the cats. Within a few minutes he was dry and
having a good wash and brush up to restore his equilibrium.
Well, I have added a new section on cat
care and information which you can find by going to:
www.thedailymews.com/felinefitness.htm.
There are two articles there at the moment; one is on
care in the sun and the other is on heatstroke. You can get them by clicking
here:
www.thedailymews.com/articles/careinthesun.htm
and
www.thedailymews.com/articles/warningsignsheatstroke.htm.
Timmy and the Plague of Frogs is the
latest article on the home page
and you
can read this by clicking here:
www.thedailymews.com/articles/plagueoffrogs.htm.
I have been asked to write a
story a week - if you're in agreement
with this,
please let me know and I'll do my best!
With the Feline Fitness section, future articles will include flea
control; the importance of neutering and spaying;
vaccinations; etc. If there are any particular areas you would like to see
covered, please send an email to the MEWSTEAM and we'll do some research (well,
Garfield probably will!) and we will post something at a later date.
With the heat it is important that you
make sure that your cat has plenty of access to fresh drinking water at all
times and if he is an outdoor cat - that there is plenty of shade available for
him to escape the heat of the sun.
Take care and until the next time, have a
PURRFECT week.
