MEWSLETTER 17: November
10, 2003
by Pauline Dewberry

Hi to
everyone, and a very warm welcome to all my new subscribers.
I'm
sorry this edition of the MEWSLETTER is a little bit late this time but two
weeks ago, Ollie had a TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE which rather
upset him. As a result he couldn't collect himself
sufficiently to get the diaries written by the usual deadline. Under the
circumstances, I had to let him have a few days grace. You can read about this
particular experience, and an EMBARRASSING EXPERIENCE he also suffered here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/kittendiaries9.htm
Garfield is continuing to do well. He is
on a new medication to help the pain of his arthritis and it seems to be
working, as he is more mobile. I had a little table made for him by a friend and
just raising his food and water off the floor to his shoulder height has made a
vast difference. You can read more about this in the next MEWSLETTER.
My great friend, Jim Willis, has written
another fantastic and thought-provoking article called The Zen of Cat. You'll
find this on the Home Page:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/TheZenofCat.htm
Five new articles have been added to the
CAT CHAT section: you'll find them all here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/catchat/blackcat.htm
http://www.thedailymews.com/catchat/Boo.htm
http://www.thedailymews.com/catchat/george.htm
http://www.thedailymews.com/catchat/Shapeofcatstocome.htm
http://www.thedailymews.com/catchat/storyofclara.htm
This is the section where you can share
your anecdotes, funny or sad, with others. Write an article up to 1,000 words,
include a small picture of your cat(s) to accompany the article and it will be
posted in the CAT CHAT section.
In the PURRFECT POETRY section, JVB
Ineichen has written a great poem which you can read here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/poems/whitenoise.htm
I found a really lovely website about a
very special sick cat who has undergone some pretty radical medical treatment
and his owners have been left with an enormous bill, which they are struggling
to pay.
If you think you can help out with a donation, no
matter how small, they will be very grateful, please go to:
http://www.molliesbigheart.com
Read Mollie's story for yourselves and let's help
Mollie's owners to pay this bill.
Since early September, our shops have been
preparing for Christmas and this afternoon, as I walked through our local
shopping mall, I discovered that Father Christmas is installed in his grotto
already. The shops are playing tinny jingly Christmassy tunes and far from
engendering good will to all men, I felt quite irritated as I shopped!!! Bah
humbug!!!! I DO like Christmas, honestly I do – but preferably on December 24,
25th and 26th – not early November!!!!
Anyway, I'll leave you all in peace now
and hope that you'll continue to give me feedback on the website. Thank you
again to all those of you who keep in touch on a regular basis, asking not only
after Garfield's health, but mine also.
For those of you with AOL, you'll need to
copy and paste the links into your browsers.
Until the next MEWSLETTER, keep warm and
happy, and have a purrfect week.
All good wishes
Your feline friend
Pauline – and the Daily Mews Team:
Garfield, Billy, Timmy, Ricky, Sam and
Ollie.

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
