MEWSLETTER 16: September 29,
2003
by Pauline Dewberry

Hi Everyone! And a very warm welcome to
my new subscribers it's
great to welcome you aboard the DailyMews!
Well, our summer here in the UK continues with glorious sun most
days thankfully not the intense heat of a month or
so ago when the cats and I wilted and flopped about with little or no energy! We
have enjoyed some fantastic refreshing rain too, which has made the garden look
a bit greener again. The patch of lawn was beginning to look a bit brown and
despondent.
Thank you to everyone who periodically
write to ask me how Garfield is doing. He's been back to the vets a couple of
times in the past month and had another course of the medication he had just
after his stroke in June. This time though, it made little impression, and he
was getting distressed when I tried to give him tablets. The vet has agreed that
we won't upset him Garfield and I have such a special bond that, in what could
be his last summer, I want him to enjoy his cuddles with me, and not view me
with suspicion because I'm about to pop a pill in his mouth.
Timmy spends a lot of time with Garfield,
almost looking after him. It was Timmy who spent the night by the bathroom door
listening out for Charlie and he was still there in the morning when I got up
and found poor little Charlie. And I think Timmy will be quite affected when
Garfield isn't with us anymore.
I would like to extend my deepest
sympathies and condolences to those of you who have lost your beloveds since our
last MEWSLETTER. In particular, I'm sad to report that Nero, the star of the
wonderful article written by Marjorie Dorfman*, lost his battle with urinary
tract infection and is now waiting at Rainbow Bridge.
You can read about Nero here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/fitfatorjustacat.htm
I wonder if any of you have cats with
strange habits? Do they like doing funny or crazy things? Do your cats have
particular dislikes like tin foil, for example? Whenever I get the foil out of
the cupboard and tear off a piece the cats all run they don't like the noise.
If so, please write and let me know and they can be posted on the CAT CHAT
section for other people to enjoy.
The publisher returned Ollie's diaries
(they obviously wouldn't recognise genius if it jumped up and bit them in the
nether regions!) so I'm sending the diaries to an agent now. Keep all your bits
and pieces crossed. You can read about his latest exploits here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/kittendiaries8.htm
I have received two submissions for the
A'MEWS'MENT ARCADE and you can view them here:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/petscomefrom.htm
and
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/weatherpredictions.htm
My thanks to Judith and Jeff for sending
me these they are funny.
Finally, you can read about what happened
when Ellie joined the family:
http://www.thedailymews.com/articles/introellie.htm
I hope you enjoy these additions and your
new look Home Page. I value your comments, so please feel free to contact me at
the MEWSDESK.
Take care, and have a purrfect week.
Your feline friend
Pauline
Garfield, Billy, Timmy, Sam, Ricky and
Ollie send all their purrs to your beloveds too!

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
