Because his long white

I began every day laughing.

'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr ...
A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test paper. It
is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe about ourselves -
that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the owner
himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to move in
almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it makes a noise
when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

Media release from Cats Protection
16 October 2006
Frederick Warne and Cats Protection join forces to celebrate the
Centenaries of Miss Moppet and Tom Kitten!
Frederick Warne, publisher of Beatrix Potter’s famous children’s
books, has teamed up with the UK’s
largest cat charity, Cats Protection, in order to promote the welfare of
these animals across the country.
With a
combined presence at organised events, literary and animal related shows and
festivals throughout the year, Frederick Warne are delighted to be celebrating
the centenaries of The Tale of Miss Moppet in 2006 and The Tale of Tom
Kitten in 2007, in association with Cats Protection.
Beatrix
Potter’s publisher was founded in 1865 by a bookseller named Frederick
Warne and specialised in illustrated
books. By the mid-twentieth century it was publishing non-fiction such as the
famous Observer series, a mainstay for animal and bird enthusiasts.
Warne’s best-known author is, however, the creator of the world-famous Peter
Rabbit™ books - some of the most enduring and adored children’s books ever
published - and every year, Frederick Warne has celebrated
the Centenary of one of Beatrix Potter’s characters, beginning with The Tale
of Peter Rabbit in 2002.
There
will be a variety of Library, School and Bookshop visits across the country
where Miss Moppet and Tom Kitten will be celebrating their birthdays,
distributing books and delivering posters, stickers and other goodies to
children, as well as visiting the following shows:
The
Cheltenham
Literary Festival
Cheltenham,
13th October
Discover Dogs Show London,
11/12th November
The
Supreme Cat Show
Birmingham,
25th November
The
National Cat Show London,
9th December
Cats
Protection is the UK’s
leading feline welfare charity with over 6000 volunteers, 29 Adoption Centres
and 261 voluntary- run Branches.
With a
long history of conservation and animal welfare work (Beatrix Potter bequeathed
her land to the National Trust, as well as being an avid animal lover) Frederick
Warne is delighted to be working with Cats Protection to promote animal welfare
throughout the UK.

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
