'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr
... A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test
paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe
about ourselves - that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the
owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to
move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it
makes a noise when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

Egyptian Mau
Rescue Organization (EMRO)
Cat e-Passport

Date:
November, 2005
Name:
Eskander
Colour:
Mau,
bronze
Age:
6
months (DOB: June, 2005)
Gender:
Male
Vaccines:
Not yet
History:
Orphaned, Eskander was brought to a local Cairo animal shelter called the
Egyptian Society of Animal Friends (ESAF) at the tender age of 1 week old. He
was fostered, then left with older cats in the shelter, who unfortunately tended
to bully him. When EMRO found him, he was quite feral, and scared of cats and
humans alike. He looked quite sad and browbeaten, and tended to huddle in
corners. When he came to live at the EMRO headquarters office, he spent a lot of
time alone in a big black box, watching the others. He walked in a cramped
style, almost bowl-legged, and it almost appeared he had arthritis. His nails
would catch on rugs and he would spend time trying to untangle himself.
A month later,
he is quite a different cat! With fewer cats to compete with, he is more
confident, and has a new buddy, Possom, whom he sometimes curls up with and who
has accepted him. He eats with the others, and although he sometimes gets a swat
from a few of the other dozen or so cats in the room, he is more relaxed. He has
developed a bit of a cough and we are trying to get some antibiotics in him, and
eventually get him vaccinated and neutered. We are able to occasionally pat him
while he is eating, and he doesn’t hide from us in a box any more!
More news next
month!
Thank you for
agreeing to sponsor Eskander! Your donation will greatly help with regular
feeding and medical bills as required.

held. When he first arrived at EMRO, he hid in boxes, trying to make himself
very small.

We are happy to give the GREAT news that Eskander has been adopted. The Daily

A
Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.
