I HEARD YOU

I heard you crying, late last night

But you could not see me there.

I saw each tear and bitter sob

And sent love to you with this prayer;

I prayed that you would feel my love

And my comfort come to you.

I lay beside you in the dark -

Although you never knew.

I wished that I could tell you this

And share with you my peace,

But I know the time for this is not yet,

And I must wait until we meet.

You have to let me go, my love,

Let me go towards the light.

You loved me the whole world and above,

Please hold that memory tight.

I promise I will wait for you -

You should know I would never forget

But please, my darling, don’t be afraid –

Don’t torture yourself with regret.

I know beyond any possible doubt

That you loved me every day

And this love is stronger than any death

That may separate us along the way.

You will see me again one night

Just as you used to do

And you will see there is no need to be afraid

And that I never stopped loving you.
