'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr
... A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test
paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe
about ourselves - that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the
owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to
move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it
makes a noise when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

CRACKER 2005 - 2007
Cracker came to us as a
kitten from a family member. He was the last little cat out of three, and the
only male. Unfortunately his little sister died after just a few weeks from cat
flu, but Cracker and his other sister didn't catch it.
He was the cutest little
kitten, a tiny ball of white fluff. My husband decided on the name Cracker, as
we collected him on Boxing Day, just after Christmas.
My husband wasn't a cat
lover, and really wanted to get a dog. However Cracker was the cat that
converted my husband into a cat lover, he adored little Cracker
Cracker was gorgeous in
character and in looks. My husband taught him to play fetch, and he used to
sleep with us every night and snore! He didn't mind being picked up for a
cuddle, and wasn't scared of anyone. He found a little girlfriend, who used to
come over to see him every day, and eat his food! Cracker didn't mind at all,
they had so much fun together running around and playing in the garden.
One sad day just after his
first birthday, Cracker went out to play. He didn't come back, despite being
called, which was quite unusual. My husband found Cracker outside our home by
the side of the road, he'd been knocked down by a car, and it looks like he'd
died instantly.
This was, and still is, an
incredibly sad day for us, and for his little girlfriend that couldn't find
Cracker any more after that day.
Months passed before I
could think of Cracker without crying, but now I can. I remember his funny
little ways, his snoring at night, playing fetch with his little yellow mousey,
and watching the pigeons from the roof of the house.
Rest in peace little
Cracker, we will miss you.

A
Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.
