MEWSLETTER: September 01 2005

Hi
Everyone, and a very warm welcome to the flood of new subscribers who joined our
DailyMews family.
This MEWSLETTER is just to advise you all that I have problems (once again) with
my computer. I am not able to access any of my articles that I've written (and
other contributions written by some of you lovely subscribers) that are stored
in the MY DOCUMENTS folder and I can't use my editing package which is Frontpage
2002 to update my website.
Some one recently sent me an egreeting which had a worm or a trojan in it and it
has completely wiped out the Microsoft component of my website. I still haven't
been able to locate the worm or trojan despite vigorous checks with my virus
software, so I'm powerless to work on my website, or on any other writing or
journalistic project.
I'm waiting to have my computer upgraded to XP but that will wipe out everything
that I have so far - and unless I can find a way to save all the articles that
have been written already, - I may lose everything - including the website.
I'm sorry to all of you who've been waiting with baited breath for your next
thrilling MEWSLETTER and I can only hope and pray that it won't be too long
before we're back in business. Until then, please add your prayers that I don't
lose the website or all the articles and poetry and amusements that were waiting
to be updated to the website.
CAT NEWS:
Garfield is doing really well after another fit and a tumble down the stairs a
couple of weeks ago. I was just having breakfast when I heard a terrible sound
and ran upstairs to find Garfield lying on his side with his tongue hanging out
and his eyes glazed. He had wet himself also. Little Timmy was standing over
him, nudging him and trying to get him to stand up; he was making little yapping
noises of encouragement and his face looked so concerned, I felt really sorry
for him. I ran downstairs and put some honey in a syringe and remembered the wet
face cloth this time to put under Garfield's chin as last time I gave him some
honey, it shot out the other side of his mouth and his fur was in thick sticky
spikes for ages. This time, though, the honey went where it was supposed to go
and he was back to 'normal' within a very short space of time, seemingly none
the worse for wear.
Timmy was hovering yapping concernedly, so I gave him a big hug after his
ordeal, and told him what a good boy he was. He hasn't left Garfield's side
since then.
The following morning, also at breakfast time, I heard another terrible sound.
This time it was the rumbling tumbling sound as Garfield landed spread-eagled at
the foot of the stairs. At the top of the stairs was Timmy - again, looking very
concerned. I picked Garfield up and checked him over and asked him why he didn't
call me as this is our arrangement. If he is upstairs and wants to come down, he
calls me - I stop whatever I'm doing and get him. The procedure is reversed for
going back upstairs.
He meowed as if to say 'I didn't want to trouble you' but since then, I've
noticed that he always calls me - he must remember that morning only too well.
I have also noticed that Timmy guides Garfield along sometimes, and it could be
that he was a bit over-enthusiastic in his guiding duties and accidently
'pushed' Garfield down the stairs. He does follow Garfield around and tries to
influence his direction and if he thinks Garfield isn't going the right way,
he'll walk in front of him and nudge him the way that he would prefer.
Considering Garfield is neither blind nor deaf, it still seems an amicable
arrangement, and Garfield, for his part, seems happy enough to be led by his
smaller companion.
Garfield will often climb onto the bottom stair and wait for me to lift him up
to carry him up the rest of the steep flight of 14 stairs. Timmy waits a couple
of stairs above and I try to encourage Garfield to go up a couple more stairs by
patting the next stair up. Timmy yaps encouragingly. When Garfield manages to
climb up one more stair, I always go 'YaYYYYYY!' and give him a big kiss of
encouragement. I was very surprised to hear Timmy make a sound like 'MRAYYYYYY!'
also. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but when it happened twice
more after Garfield climbed the next two stairs I realised that Timmy was
copying my sound and giving him encouragement as well.
Aren't cats amazing?? Do your cats make sounds that imitate the sounds you make?
Do they 'talk' to you in ways that you 'understand'? Please send me your stories
and experiences - BUT NOT YET!!! Unless you have anything of an urgent nature to
tell me or ask me, please don't send me any emails until I write again with the
all-clear. And please - no attachments because I will not open them.
Hopefully, I'll be writing to you again soon, with all the latest updates added
to the website. In the meantime, take care and have a PURRFECT week.

A Cat's Prayer'
Lead me down all the right paths,
Keep me from fleas, bees, and baths.
Let me in should it storm,
Keep me safe, fed, and warm.
Let the sun shine where I lay,
Keep me young so I may play.
And most of all ...
Bless the people I adore,
And guard me from the dog next door.

PRAISE FOR THE OCTOBER
2005 MEWSLETTER
Thank you very much for another wonderful Mewsletter. I look
forward to it each month, and this month was especially fine.
There is enough in it to be able to read at leisure over several
days, which sets it apart from many more compact sites, which
are finished in a few minutes. Your Mewsletter is more of a
digest, which I can go back to for something new over and over
again. I appreciate very much the work that you put into it,
and the contributions of all your feline staff. Thanks to
Ricky, I may even take up yoga.
All the best from rural Belgium, Jared Kline |
