MEWSLETTER 54 February 23 2007
Good morning, Cat-lovers! This is an unofficial "Mews-Flash" from The Daily Mews ! Hoping all finds you well this beautiful Friday morning! We have only a couple of things to bring to your attention and since this is a "monthly" site (and you only get ONE Mewsletter a month) - I felt that you could handle one extra email in your box during this month! As you are all aware, I have been helping Pauline out with her site while she's been ill. I would first like to express my gratitude (and Pauline's gratitude) to you all for putting up with me these past few months! Pauline values your readership and she has been pleasantly surprised at the increase in traffic while she's been ill. It means a great deal to her and I know that you are helping her along with your ongoing prayers and good thoughts. Pauline is absolutely convinced that your prayers have made a huge difference in her recovery, and we hope that you will continue. Today's update is a quickie on the following topics:
PAULINE'S HEALTH: Many of you have been asking after Pauline, and so I wanted to send out a quick "mews-flash" to catch you all up! Pauline is now out of the hospital and home with her kitty, Jimmy. Unfortunately, she had to ask a cattery to keep an eye on her other four kitties as she is very weak from the many treatments that she has undergone recently. But Jimmy, true to form, will not leave her side (much as Garfield loved to help her out!). She has set up camp in the lower levels of her home, as climbing stairs is truly a strain, and has a nurse visiting each day. She asked that I continue to help her out with the March, and possibly April, Mewsletters. So hopefully you are not tired of me yet, and will stay tuned as we have some wonderful new things to add! JEFF - WEBMASTER ETRAORDINAIRE Many thanks to Jeff! He is the brilliant mind behind The Daily Mews website, and has been acting as liaison, email forwarder, text-messenger translator between Pauline and I, and general "go-to" person over the last few months. Please thank him for all of his hard work! And in case I have forgotten lately, "Thank You Jeff!" CONTEST: Remember that we have a wonderful contest going on at www.thedailymews.com . As the contest entries have been sent directly to Cats Delight, the company that is sponsoring this contest. Remember that you just might be eligible to win a free case of treats for your kitty! So send your entries in now! Click here for details on the contest. CONDOLENCES: Recently one of our most wonderful writers/contributors lost his 20 year old cat, Buddy . Ed Kostro had Buddy since he was a kitten, and we know that he had a purr-fect life. Ed, know that our thoughts are with you. Buddy will be awaiting your return to the Rainbow Bridge along with all of the other animals you have rescued, fostered, adopted and cared for. Buddy will be missed... YOUR SUBMISSIONS: Please continue to send your stories, articles, poetry and art to me at stacymantle@gmail.com or petsweekly@gmail.com. We are very appreciative of the new content! As I have a weekly website that I update, I haven't had much time to contribute to The Daily Mews , so please know that your work is very much appreciated! I have met some wonderful people in my time here as "substitute editor", and I hope that you will also continue to send your cat-related questions in. I will do my very best to answer! We have had some wonderful stories, articles, art and poetry submitted by many of you and I hope that you will continue to send them on. Fundraiser and Free Stuff: Well, sort of free. Stacy Mantle and Alley Cat Rescue have teamed up to begin their fundraising for Spring. For every $50 donation you make, you will receive a free copy of my book, " Conquering the Food Chain: Living Amongst Animals (Without Becoming One) " (a $12.95 value!) and the first 50 people to donate will receive a signed copy! It just might be worth some money one day - you never can tell... So have a fun read about living with lots of different species, an occasional breakdown in the food chain, and the fun we have in our home! You are helping a wonderful cause - abandoned, abused, homeless and feral cats. Is there anything better to donate too? For those of you in the States, your donation is a tax write-off, so do it now! For those of you across the pond, well I don't even know if you pay taxes... But, it's a great cause anyway! Check out Alley Cat Rescue or Petsweekly for more details. You can email question, content or just a "Cheers" to me at: stacymantle@gmail.com. We'll have your next Official Mewsletter out near the beginning of March. In the meantime... Purrrrs and gentle headbutts, Stacy
