Mewsletter update January 10th 2007 Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to all the new subscribers this wet, cold and windy January day in the UK. This is an ‘unofficial’ Mewsletter because it’s just an update to let you all know what’s happening - for the benefit of the new subscribers as well. The first course of chemotherapy that I had in November has miraculously put me into remission and this Friday, 12th January, I’ll be going to the hospital in London to have another 5 days of chemotherapy, 5 days of some intensive drug regimes before having my brother’s stem cells around 22nd January. I’ve been told I’ll be in hospital for about 4 – 6 weeks. To everyone who has been praying for me – THANK YOU! To everyone who sent me Get Well cards, Christmas cards, letters, books, and other presents – THANK YOU! I really appreciated everything more than you’ll ever realise. While I’m in the hospital, Stacy Mantle in the US will continue to update the website and send out the Mewsletter. If you have any cat related articles that you’d like to see on the website, then email them to Stacy: [stacymantle@gmail.com] Cat poetry, cat funnies, and tributes to your cats that may have passed away – everything can be sent to Stacy who will add it to the website. The next official Mewsletter should be towards the third or fourth week of January so you have plenty of time and if you’ve not entered the quiz from the last issue of the Mewsletter, here are the questions again. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* BOOK QUIZ: 1. Which of Stacy’s cats has learned how to turn the television on and off? 2. What type of dog is Tristan? You can find these answers online at www.authorsden.com/stacymantle or at www.petsweekly.com/stories, and also in Stacy’s book! Send your answers to stacymantle@gmail.com and the first correct respondent will receive a modest prize. My own 5 Daily Mewsers have been real little troupers since I came home. I wondered if seeing their Mum wearing a wig would freak them out but they took it in their stride. And when I took the wig off (it gets pretty hot in there!) I thought they’d all shriek and rush for the cat flap – but they didn’t. Billy has had a habit of patting me on the head for a number of years now and now when his paw goes out to do it, it’s almost as if he’s thinking better of it! He’s been very close and cuddly since I came home on December 15th as if he wants reassurance – which I’m happy to give him. Ollie looks at me as if there is something different about me but he can’t quite put his paw on it. But for all of them, they have just accepted that Mum’s back home and it’s good to see her again. It just goes to show that cats do love us unconditionally, and it’s not dependent on whether their servants have hair or not. I’m reminded of when I first had to wear glasses for reading – Garfield used to get up on my lap and try and take them off with his paw. So cats DO notice the changes in us, that we, perhaps, take for granted. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that all is well here at The Daily Mews Mansion and that Stacy is bravely ‘manning the fort’ for another couple of months until I can return and take up the captaincy once again. I do hope you’ll stick around. A belated HAPPY MEW YEAR to everyone and I do hope you and your furry companions will have a healthy and blessed year. Take care, Your friend - Pauline Dewberry – editor |
