MEWSLETTER 42: GARFIELD'S FIRST CHRISTMAS MEWSLETTER 23rd December 2005
Dear Everyone, Garfield here at the helm, writing the Christmas MEWSLETTER while Mum is engaged in something called ‘manic pandemonium’. She is muttering away to herself, knee deep in paper and wrapping presents for the grandchildren. For those of you who don’t know, grandchildren are smaller versions of grown ups and they tend to be a very noisy type of creature indeed. We Mewsers usually run away or hide when any of them visit and we don’t come out until the coast is clear. This Christmas MEWSLETTER is much shorter than the usual ones and there aren’t any other links other than my Christmas Letter, which you can read here: http://www.thedailymews.com/mewsersmewsings/garfieldschristmasletter2005.htm I wanted to write a special thank you to everyone who has written to me throughout the year to enquire of my health and offering suggestions to make me better. Anyway, a very warm welcome to all the new folk who flooded through the Daily Mews Cat Flap since the last MEWSLETTER went out in November. You are all cherished and welcome and please feel free to pass this MEWSLETTER to your feline loving family members and friends. The Daily Mews office is aglow with festive greetings and a miniature fibre optic Christmas tree twinkles merrily as I write this. The room is festooned with Christmas cards from all over the world – and we’d just like to thank everyone who has kindly sent us all cards and presents. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* A hilarious and addictive game for you to play!!!! http://upchucky.com/games/hairball-bowling.html *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* GARFIELD’S BOOK QUIZI had a brilliant idea this month regarding the Book Quiz. Everyone who enters the quiz will receive a special gift from me – BUT – your cat has to send in the answers!!! Now, I know that many of you live in multi-cat households like ours, so we’re requesting that only ONE entry be posted. Nominate the smartest cat to enter the quiz and add all your names. Please send your entries in the usual way to the usual address and as always, you can nominate a favourite website. In addition, please add your cat’s age, and how many cats there are in your feline family, and to save Mum time writing to everyone asking for your home addresses, please add them with your replies. Please note: we DO NOT sell your details to anyone so they are completely safe – we promise you, and I have put my paw on my heart to swear to complete safety of any personal details you include in your answers. This is a one-off just for Christmas and your emails are deleted as soon as the relevant details are noted. Last month’s quiz brought out more new faces, which is always good. The answers were: 1. Is Your Cat Too Fat? By Bronwen Meredith 2. Watchers In The Sun by Margaret Reinhold 3. Cats 99 Lives by Howard Loxton And the bookworms are: 1. Laura Jowalski, PA, who suggested this website: www.fatcats.com 2. Jared Kline, Belgium 3. Bridget Haggerty, Ohio, who has a great Irish website www.irishcultureandcustoms.com 4. Maryjean Ballner who has a great website www.dogandcatmassage.com 5. Dana Beaton, Scotland who has nominated this great site: http://www.neopets.com/ Now for this month’s quiz. I have chosen FOUR books that I would like the authors to this time. If you have a website you can nominate it, or you can nominate a favourite site (apart from the Daily Mews!) Just for this month only, each entrant will receive a prize. Who wrote the following: 1. Alice’s Diary: The Memoirs of a Cat 2. Cats in the Belfry 3. Bluebell: Diary of a Cat 4. Do Cats Think? Notes of a Cat-Watcher Send your answers to p.dewberry@ntlworld.com *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Well that’s it! My very first Christmas MEWSLETTER. Even though I know SHEDLOADS of stuff, I’m sure you’ll be very relieved that this is a very short MEWSLETTER!!! A very big ‘thank you’ to Laura Dumm for the fantastic cartoon on the Home Page. Each of us here at the Daily Mews office would like to wish every single one of you a very happy Christmas and a blessed and peaceful MEW Year. Wherever you live in the world, wherever is home to you, we all pray that 2006 will be a good year in every way. And we look forward to all your stories, poems, funny articles, and your tributes to your beloved cats that are now NAPPING ON A SUNBEAM. God bless each and every one of you, and may He keep you safe and free from harm and danger. SHEDLOADS of love Garfield – Chief Technical Advisor and sometime editor Billy and Timmy – Wild life Advisor and Care of the Elderly (respectively) Sam – Ethic Minorities Advisor and Massage Tester Ricky – Holistic Health Guru Ollie – celebrating his 3rd year today of being dumped at the Pet Shop and finding Mum!
