'Cats make one of the most satisfying sounds in the world: they purr
... A purring cat is a form of high praise, like a gold star on a test
paper. It is reinforcement of something we would all like to believe
about ourselves - that we are nice.' - Roger A Caras
"Of all the [cat] toys available, none is better designed than the
owner himself. A large multipurpose plaything, its parts can be made to
move in almost any direction. It comes completely assembled, and it
makes a noise when you jump on it." -- Stephen Baker

HOW TO KEEP YOUR CAT SAFE IN WINTER
If
your cat goes outside, try to ensure that he is kept inside during morning and
evening rush hours so that he is off dark roads when they are at their busiest.
Fit a
quick-release collar with reflective strips to increase his visibility when he
is out and about.
Cats
will always seek out the warmest spot so make sure yours doesn’t overheat
sitting too close to a heater or radiator or from being in the airing cupboard
for prolonged periods. Ensure fire guards are always used around open fires.
Take
great care when topping up car anti-freeze and adding screen wash so as not to
spill any. Both are highly poisonous to cats, who can be attracted by the sweet
smell. Also, check beneath a warm car before driving off as a cat may be
sheltering underneath.

Make
sure your cat can always find shelter during poor weather. If you do not have a
cat flap fitted, prop your garden shed ajar and pop a fleecy bed inside so that
he can get inside if he’s caught out in the rain. Wipe any grit/rock salt from
your cat’s paws or coat when he comes in, though it’s best to keep him inside if
snow is forecast.

Ensure your cat can always access water if he goes outside. Water bowls will
need defrosting at least twice a day in frosty weather.
